Shake Your Booty!

Featuring: Jase

Co-starring: Jozi

Packing Up Camp

Sunday came and it was time pack up camp. Jase helped Grandpa Jack pack his bags.

And found a nice water puddle to occupy his time while we took down the tents.

Grandpa Jack tried packing him up too and taking him back to VA, but Da-Da rescued him before Grandpa could pull off (much to Jase's dismay).

Our Last Night Camping

Jase's last night around the camp fire started off with a bang. He got a M&M icecream cookie! It doesn't get any better than that!

Then he started making silly faces.

First, was his scary ghost stories around the camp fire face.
And second, was I'm the cutest camper in the world face.
He's favorite part of his last night was the glow necklace and bracelet. He had to pry them off of him when he went to bed that night and the first thing he asked for in the morning was his necklace. He was still wearing Sunday night when he went to bed.

Day 2- The Jumping Pillow

The Jumping Pillow was by far Jase's favorite feature of the camp site. At first, he didn't seem to like jumping by himself. He wanted to be held. Bouncing on that thing and holding him at the same time was quite a task. And he looked like a bobble head when we did it. His head bounced around so much that at one point he broke his glasses. Then it dawned on me that the thing was hot. So the next time we went, I brought socks. After that, there was no stopping him. He still doesn't really know how to jump, so he just ran all over it lifting his arms up and down like he was jumping. At first, he wanted us on the pillow with him even though he was bouncing by himself, but once other kids came and started bouncing with him, it was like we didn't exist. I took a ton of picture and a few videos of Jase bouncing with everyone.
Here are the pictures:

And here are the videos:

(I warn you now, I was recording these while standing on the pillow being bounced around filming Jase bouncing around, so they aren't steady vidoes.)

Day 2- At the Pool

Usually on our camping trips, we spend 50% of our time at the pool. Come 1 pm our second day at the camp grounds and we hadn't yet dabbled in the water. So after lunch, we made our way down to the pools.By this time of day, Jase was really tired, and the water was really cold. The combination made for a really cranky 2 year old who clung to daddy the whole time we were in the pool.

So instead of swimming, he put on some shades and hung out pool side watching the babes in bikinis.

Day 2- Fishing

Jase was most looking forward to fishing more than any other part of our camping trip. He got a new fishing pole and his Grandpa Jack got him a fully stocked tackle box, and he was ready to go! He was carrying his pole around the camp site the entire morning patiently waiting for everyone to get up moving.

Grandpa Jack also showed him how to wear his hat backwards (which is now the only way he will wear it!) and how to flex his muscles.

Finally, we headed down to the pond!

For the first 30 seconds, fishing was fun. I mean he did have some awesome company and comedy. Company being Ma-Ma, Da-Da and his cousin John. Comedy being when Daddy tried to teach him how to cast his line, and ended up casting the line into the tree. Guess he thought we were fishing for birds.

Unfortunately, standing still was a little too much for this two year old. He found that throwing rocks in the water, playing with the worms, and mostly, playing with his tackle box, was much more exciting.

Two fish were caught that morning, if you can call something that small a fish. Jase wasn't sure about touching it, but when we told him he could throw it back in the water, he didn't hesitate to reach over and grab it out of Grandpa Jack's hand. He couldn't pick it up, though. He kept trying and finally gave up in a fit of laughter because, it was "too slippy!"

While Rob, John, and Michael (who eventually woke up and joined us at the pond) fished a little longer, me and my dad kept Jase occupied posing for pictures with him.

2009 Camping Trip- Day 1

This weekend was our 5th annual, and Jase's 3rd, camping trip at Jellystone in Luray, VA. Although Jase has been three times before this is the first year he knows what camping is and was really looking forward to it. And what a wonderful weekend it was!

Day 1
We got to the camp grounds a few hours before everyone else and Jase had to check everything out. There was so much he wanted to do, he didn't know what to do with himself. We went from activity to activity spending only about 5 minutes at each before he got excited over the next thing and off we went. First we started off playing putt-putt. He had never played before and had more fun dropping the ball in and out of the hole than he did hitting it with the club. And no matter how many times Rob showed him how to putt like Tiger, he still insisted on the one handed scoot shot.

Next. we went to the fishing pond where we saw about 5 small fish and one monstrous fish swimming around the shore.

After that, we went to the arcade.

Then on to the Jumping Pillow. Jase loved this thing!

Me and Rob were already getting tired by this point and we had only been there about an hour. We decided to slow things down a bit and head onto the camp site. As we arrived at our site, we got a phone call letting us know everyone else had just arrived. So we spend the next few hours setting up camp. Jase's favorite spot to hand out was in Grandpa Jack's tent bouncing on his air mattress.

Jase has never had trouble falling asleep in new places. He's also never had any problem sleeping in a tent, but for some reason he just wasn't falling asleep the first night there. So, when I peeked in the tent around 11:00 when we paused from our card game to make s'mores, I went ahead and let him get up and have one. This was the first time he was awake for the s'mores, and he told me today that "the marshmallow sandwich with chocolate on the fire" was his "favorite part of camping."

Stepping Stone

Jase made Rob a stepping stone for father's day and today it was finally hardened and ready to go outside. He did such a good job with it. He did it almost by himself. He mixed the cement, did the hand print (with a little help) and put all the stones in by himself. All I really had to do was write in the words and of course clean up.

Play Date with Jozi

Jase has become very good friends with my neighbor's grand-daughter. It had been a couple weeks since he'd last seen her and he was really missing her. Last weekend, when we were heading to Sara's birthday party, he kept asking, "Is my friend, Jozi, at the party?" Then, almost every night this week, when we were saying our prayers, he said his special prayer for Jozi saying, "I miss her." How cute is that! So last night, he said he wanted to see "my friend Jozi". (It is never just "Jozi" it is always "my friend Jozi".) I made the mistake of telling him I would call her mommy to see if they could come play and for the rest of the night and all day today he was running around saying he was gonna play with "my friend Jozi" when mommy got home. So, they got together today and played. They are just the cutest two little things. They still do a lot of the we are playing together, but we really aren't playing together, we are just playing side-by-side thing. But today, they took off into my neighbor's yard and really played together. They played house and kept taking turns going out side the house and knocking on the door letting each other in and making each other laugh by sticking their heads through the window. Then they played in the sand box shoveling sand on each other just laughing it up the whole time. He is already asking when he'll get to play with her again.

Letters

Jase just blows me away sometimes with the things he can do. Janet and Brian got him a kids lap top that has educational games on it. He LOVES it!!!! He has been playing with it non-stop and has immediately become a pro! This is him playing one of the letter game where they give a letter, he has to find it on the key board and then they give an object that begins with the letter.

The letter "W" was his favorite letter today. He was running around the house with his three middle fingers saying he was making a "W". He figured it out all by himself. Then, at dinner, he was eating with a spork. He held it up in front of him and said, "A 'W'!" Then he turned it upside down and said, "And now its a 'M'!" A little genius our little man is!

Father's Day

Here's a special message from Jase to all the Daddy's out there....expecially his wonderful Daddy!!!

Hope you all had a special day!

Bubble Mane

I didn't think there was much bubble bath in the container the other day, so just emptied all of it in to the tub. We had bubbles every where! I put them all over Jase and he said he was a bubble lion.

I think that was a pretty accurate description, don't you?
