Gilbert Run

We didn't make any plans this Memorial Day Weekend, so we decided to go to Gilbert Run Park. There is so much to do there and we dabbled in a little bit of everything. We started off doing a little fishing.

The guys taking all the fishing equipment down to the river.

Rob and Jase looking over the bank at all the critters. We saw turtles, snakes, and ducks in the water, but no fish!

He thought he was so cool sitting in his chair fishing.
Next, we went out on the river in a paddle boat.

Then we walked across the bridge to the playground. Loved the "bouncy bridge" at the playground.

And after doing all of that out in the hot sun, we cooled off with some ice cream!

Double Fisting! LOL
We had a wonderful time there. Next time, we are going to try the canoe and play a little beach volleyball.

Sprinkler

Jase and I played in the sprinkler today. He kept throwing the ball in the sprinkler and then would run in really fast and get it screaming the entire time!

When he was done playing he looked down at himself and said, "Oh Man! I'm soaked!"

Jase the Magician!

Every good magican has a magic cape and hat.

Doing a card trick.

Using his magic wand to turn me into a frog. Thank goodness I was the only one with a camera, because after he turned me into a frog, he insisted I hop around and rib-bit like a frog, too. HaHa!

Jase the Diva

He is such a little Diva! LOL
First, he started out with my heels and sunglasses:

Then he found Rob's hat:

And the last piece to the ensemble was my bracelet:
HA! HA!
Never a dull moment with this boy!

Back-Pack and Ice Cream

We were all going outside today and Jase wanted so badely to bring his "Toy Story" toys with him. He been lossing his toys outside lately so we really didn't want him taking them out. So, we compromised. He could take them out as long as he left them in the back-pack he put the in and kept the the bag on his back.

He looked like he was waiting for the school bus hanging out at the end of the drive-way like that.

While we were outside, the ice cream truck came through the neighborhood. Jase heard the music and came running up to me and Rob asking, "Do you have any dollars? I really NEED some dollars!" It was too cute. So, we gave him some money and he was waving it around trying to flag the ice cream man down.

His mouth was watering for that ice cream!

But why settle for one, when you can eat yours and Daddy's! LOL

He nearly fell off the steps he was trying so hard to get a bite.

But he was a sweet heart, and shared his, too.

Jase and Jozi

Jase and Jozi are like peas and carrots. They just adore each other and for the most part, they play very well together.

But every once in a while...

There's trouble in paradise! LOL

Thankfully, Rob was there to smooth things out between them with a fun game of ring-around-the-rosies.

Movie on the Lawn

The local elementary school had a Movie on the Lawn fundraiser. They showed Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs; one of Jase's favorite movies.

He was so excited during the entire thing. They had to wait until dark to actually start the movie, but the teachers guided the kids through songs and dances while waiting for the sun to set. Because the movie started so late, though, we had to leave half-way through it :(

The Boys

Jonathan and Alek came over today and the boys had a great time jumping on the moon bounce and taking wagon rides.

Alek hasn't been a fan of the moon bounce in the past, and Jase was just thrilled that he was in it today bouncing.
Jase forgets that he is bigger than Jonathan and is always expecting him to pull him around. But that little boy is super strong and he did pull him around a bit.

Then, they decided to go surfing. Silly boys!

Rock Creek Park

Today, we spent the day at Rock Creek Park in DC with the Aquilanos. It was a beautiful day and we had a really great time. When we first got there, we met up with them at the Nature Center. Jase quickly found the kids room and immediately fell in love with the turtle puppets. Him and Rob put on the most adorable little puppet show!
After the puppet show, we headed outside to discuss what we were gonna do next. We were all just kind of standing there and Jase points down on the ground all excited over a snake he found just about a foot away from him.

Jase just thought that snake was the coolest thing in the world. Rob, however, was on snake look out the rest of the day. He kept making reference to the snake through-out the day and its description went from a 3 ft. snake to an 8 ft. snake. LOL

We decided to hike a trail that was right there by the Nature Center and it was a beautiful little 1/2 mile walk. Jase really enjoyed the stroll through the woods and all the cool things we saw.

The guys were checking out the little pond along the trail for some creepy critters.

Our little nature walk turned Jase into a tree hugger.

Along the trail were a couple benches where Karen had us stop so she could take a couple family photos for us.

Jase was such a big boy and hiked the entire trail on his own. He never once asked to be carried.

Daddy was very proud of his big boy!

All that hiking worked up our appetites. So, we had a nice little picnic followed by a friendly game of frisbee.

We all pigged out on sandwiches and fruit. Jase was so excited when Karen shared their cantaloupe! Cantaloupe is his favorite!

Karen was teaching Jase how to throw the frisbee.

Playing with the boys.

He thought since all the grown-ups were playing frisbee he could sneak back into the snacks without being detected. Caught red-handed mister!

After lunch we went to the stables and looked at all the horses. A nice man let us pet his horse but Jase was a little scared. He would put his hand out like he was going to pet it, then pull it back right before he touched the horse.

After visiting the stables, we headed back to the Nature Center to see the 1:00 showing in the planetarium. Jase just loves the stars and moon so this was right up his alley. He listened and watched as the Ranger showed the constellations and plants that we would see over the next couple days in the night sky. After his presentation, the Ranger asked the kids if they had any questions. Of course all the kids, including Jase, raised their hands and asked questions. After one little girl asked "Did you know my mommy took karate lessons when she was a little girl?" I was nervous to hear Jase's questions. But the smart little booger asked, "Where is the moon? When will we see it again?" (It is a new moon.) All the other kids got short answers to their questions, but when Jase asked his, the ranger turned the lights back off, showed the kids what the moon will look like as it changes through its faces and took them on a trip to the moon with Buzz. It was really awesome!

After the show, we headed to a different section of the park to check out the river.

It was a really great day and I am so happy Karen and Sonny invited us to go with them. When we decided to call it a day, Jase put his hands on his hips and said:

"Hey, I was having fun at the park!" LOL
