The National Zoo in DC

Today we had a wonderful family outing at the National Zoo in DC. Between the gorgeous weather and the the great company (Karen and Sonny) the day was perfect! (Minus the drive there and home, but we won't talk about that!)

We knew the day was gonna be great when the very first animal we saw was...
Some turtles!!!

Looking at all the animals.

Jase was wanting to take his picture with every statue.

He even waited in line to get a picture with this bear.

When we wanted him to take a picture with us, though, he wasn't as cooperative! LOL

Jase had just as much fun reading the map as he did looking at the animals.

He started off the day asking Rob to help him with the map.

But after getting lost a couple times he decided to get help from the more experienced map reader.

He loved this big kimono dragon.

And tried to imitate it! LOL
He loved all the interactive things the zoo had to offer, too.

He used the binoculars to try to find the elephants that were hiding.

He was more interested in the video of the wild cat than the actual cat.

And we was tickled to death every time Karen would turn the dial and a new picture would show up in the view finder of this slide show.

The coolest part of the day was actually at the very end. We were about to skip over the bird house cause we were all getting tired, but we are so glad we toughed it out.

They had two different areas were you could walk openly with the birds

With Karen and Mommy in the bird house.

And with the guys in the bird house.

Jase had such a good time! (And we did too!)
